Kristel Kõiv is a lawyer with the Banking and Finance practice at PwC Legal Estonia. She has been connected to the financial sector since 2011. Prior to joining PwC Legal, Kristel worked for Luminor and its predecessor Nordea where she was responsible for handling all legal aspects of the fund manager: advising on compiling/revising various documents (incl internal rules, contracts, product terms), communication with the Financial Supervisory Authority, internal and external auditors as well as supporting the management in managing operational risks, compliance related matters and preparing respective regular reports to the Management and Supervisory Board.
During the years 2003−2011 Kristel worked in the public sector, last four of which at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications (MKM), department of internal market infrastructure quality. Her responsibilities included participation in policy making and regulation, mainly related to areas of product safety (general product safety, consumer products, toys) and market surveillance. Before joining MKM she also had a very interesting experience working for the Estonian Radiation Centre, where her work was also related to preparation of legal acts and drafting of regulations (incl joining international contracts and harmonizing EU regulations) as well as preparing and editing informative materials, advising the team in legal aspects and participating in the EU working group related to the area (radiation protection and safety).
Kristel holds a MA degree in Law, has higher education in the area of Administrative Organisation and is finalising her MA studies in the faculty of economics at the Tallinn University of Technology.
